Collaborative Divorce
|Collaborative Divorce is one of the newest alternatives to divorce litigation. But, it’s not for everyone because not everyone needs four professionals – two attorneys, a facilitator and a forensic CPA – assisting them to reach a settlement. Four professionals on the clock is expensive. Pre-suit Mediation may be a better alternative for many couples. During Pre-suit Mediation, the couple works with a neutral mediator who assists them in reviewing their finances and reaching an agreement. Only one professional is on the clock. When an agreement is reached, the mediator prepares the agreement and all of the court documents for filing an uncontested divorce. The agreement can then be taken to separate attorneys for review prior to execution if that is what the couple wants. Typically, Pre-suit Mediation is more efficient and less costly than Collaborative Divorce.
