Divorce Mediator – Legal Separation In Florida

You want to separate, but you don’t want to file for divorce at this time. What should you do? Most Florida divorce attorneys will tell you that Florida law does not recognize legal separations. What they should be saying is that divorce in Florida is “no-fault” and that Florida does not require a couple to be “legally separated” for a period of time in order to obtain their divorce. So what are your options if you want to separate, but are not ready to file for divorce? Your best option is what is called a “post-nuptial” agreement. A post-nuptial agreement is basically a pre-nuptial agreement entered into after you are married. Like a pre-nuptial agreement a post-nuptial agreement can address your present financial arrangements and future financial arrangements in the event of divorce, incapacity or death.
